The Worst Case of Kidney Stones

I had a friend who suffered from chronic kidney stones for as long as she could remember (she was in her late forties at the time).
Many years ago, while working together, she came to work on a day where she had been suffering
from an excruciatingly painful bout of kidney stones. I had never experienced them myself, so she informed me in significant detail of how miserable and painful the condition was. I felt terrible for her, especially after watching her try to work through it all morning. These stones were particularly large and at this point unpassable. She was doubled over in pain, and at times the condition was causing incontinence.
She had mentioned that due to the chronic nature of her condition and given the enormity of the stones she was dealing with, her doctor mentioned that they might consider performing surgery to alleviate her pain. When I heard the word surgery, I immediately hopped onto the internet. There had to be a better way!
Well, lo and behold, there is!

What are Kidney Stones?

Kidney Stones (Renal Calculi)—A stone that develops from crystals that form in urine and build up on the inner surfaces of the kidney, in the renal pelvis, or in the ureters. Kidney stones include calcium oxalate stones, cystine stones, struvite stones, and uric acid stones.   —PubMed Health Glossary, NIH - National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases

What Are Possible Causes of Kidney Stones?

Aside from having conditions such as Crohn's Disease or Gout (that can cause a significant shift in the PH levels of the body, thereby causing conditions such as kidney stones), some common causes have been known to create stones.
Here is a small list:
  • Not drinking plenty of water daily. According to WebMD.com, without an adequate daily intake of water; calcium, minerals, salts, and other substances can begin to stick together,
    thereby creating small stones.
  • It is thought that being susceptible to kidney stones can possibly be hereditary, over generations of sufferers. According to mayoclinic.org, those who are predisposed to this genetic disorder, have kidneys that tend to excrete far more amino acids than what is normal.
  • It is believed, that dark soda drinks may also be a culprit of reoccurring kidney stones, especially for those who are already susceptible to the condition. Some believe that it is the extremely high phosphoric acid content in a bottle of cola, whereas others believe fructose plays a significant role in the development of the problem. I happen to think there is truth to this theory. My dear friend was addicted to Coca-Cola and found herself drinking them incessantly—never opting to drink water on a daily basis (which I'm of the mind, would only aggravate the situation even more).
  • WebMd.com also refers to a rare condition to which the parathyroid glands produce too many hormones, thereby increasing the calcium deposits in the body. Too much calcium can build up, which can lead to calcium stones.

Kidney stones form when tiny mineral crystals in your urine stick together. Kidney stones can range in size and shape. They can be as small as a grain of sand or as large as a golf ball, although stones that big are rare.

If a kidney stone is small enough, it can move or "pass" through your urinary tract and out of your body on its own. If the stone is too large, however, it could get stuck in your kidney or ureter.  —www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmedhealth/PMHT0022762

How To Successfully Dissolve & Conquer Kidney Stones

Positive Results Within Minutes

My friend and I dissolved and conquered her severe bout of kidney stones with one simple, all natural solution—lemon juice. Through my extensive research, I discovered that the citric acid in lemon juice reduces the acidity levels in urine as well as having a unique ability to prevent uric acid stones and calcium oxalates from forming. And if that wasn't amazing enough, a high concentration of lemon juice will actually break up and dissolve kidney stones, almost instantly.
How To Cure Kidney Stones
Since my friend's case was severe (she was experiencing severe pain and was not able to pass any stones), we went full force in fighting her problem. Less than 15 minutes after drinking the lemon juice, she reported that her pain was 100% gone! Within 45 minutes of taking her first dose of lemon juice, she was passing small stones, painlessly!
  • What we did was squeeze two ounces of lemon juice (from a lemon) into a measuring cup. My friend, then drank the entire two ounces in one drink, followed by a glass of water.
  • She continued drinking two ounces of lemon juice, three times a day for the next couple of days while making a point to drink more water (until she was sure that her condition was completely cured).
Upon reflection, she accepted the fact that she needed to change some things regarding her diet. Mainly, replacing soda with lemon water. By adding a teaspoon to a tablespoon of lemon juice to her water daily, she has been able to successfully maintain her health. She has not had a reoccurrence of kidney stones (which is amazing, since she has suffered from them most of her life). She does, at times, slip an occasional soda, however, with her daily intake of lemon water, she has remained successful.

How to Treat Kidney Stones with Diet

In Summary

While you may suffer from kidney stones due to a medical condition or genetics, it is worth noting that adding a simple glass of lemon water to your daily diet could quite possibly make an enormous impact on your health. There are many benefits to drinking lemon water daily; however, I find that kidney and urinary health is one, if not the most beneficial effect. If you haven't tried incorporating lemon water into your day, I encourage you to start now. It could change your life.
